Top Nine for 2015

2015 had some great memories but I am looking forward to 2016!

2016 in 2016

Something you might not know about me is that I like to keep things. You might even find me on Hoarders Buried Alive one day. Just kidding, I don't think it is that bad yet... I like to hold onto things that will help me remember certain events or dates but I also like to hold onto things just incase I might need it one day. Y'all, this is where the problem lies. I like to think of myself as an organizer. I love to organize things, especially for other people, but when it comes to my house I think I get overwhelmed easily. I have been wanting to clean out my house for a while.

I started reading The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo and has giving me the inspiration that I needed. I also recently found out about the 2015 in 2015 challenge. It was a little late for me to start so I waited to participate in the 2016 in 2016 challenge. This challenge is brought on by Nourishing Minimalism where you try and declutter 2016 items in your house in the year 2016. This can be done  individually or as a family. She suggests that each person in your family use a different color pen to cross out the boxes. Then you can see who got rid of the most stuff.

I went ahead and got a jump start on the challenge and got rid of about 60 things today as I was cleaning up my office. To be able to complete the challenge you need to declutter about 168 items a month. Once you get started, it is so easy! I plan to work room by room to get rid of things I no longer need.

Who wants to join me in this challenge? Let me know!

Christmas Home Tour 2015

This is always my favorite room to decorate for the seasons. It is the first room you see when you walk in the front door and I want it to be that warm, inviting first impression. We purchased our buffet a few months ago and I have loved adding simple decor to it for each season. I have found that I keep the same base ( cake stands with the wooden flower box in the middle) and just add simple seasonal decor to help pep it up. I have some white plates to hang above the buffet still and next year I will be able to make them christmas plates!

Fall Break 2015

Fall Break is one of my favorite things about the school I am at. We get a week off in Mid-October and it is the perfect time for us. It isn't a busy time for Hutt at work and it is also a time when not a lot of people are on vacation. Last year we went on a cruise, but since we did Galveston and Florida this summer we decided we wanted something a little more rugged... or what I call rugged. It started out as us going camping at Enchanted Rock but then it turned into glamping. I'm not complaining. This is defiantly my favorite version of camping. I mean look at this Cabin. It was one of our favorite vacations even though it was short.

Fall Style

Fall is by far my favorite season. Growing up summer was always my favorite because of time off from school. Now that I am a teacher I still love my summers, but I also look forward to the fall. There is just something about the crisp air and all the perfect decor.

Some more reasons Fall is my favorite...

Aggie Football! Once there is college football it is fall! I love my saturdays revolving around football. We are actually going to the first game in the new Kyle Field saturday! Whoop!

Our Anniversary! We got married November 24, 2012 and it was the perfect cool day. It was the saturday after Thanksgiving and all of our family was there and it was the best day ever. So incredibly thankful for these photos by Lauren Clark.

The decor! I love pumpkins and I love decorating with them. I sometimes put it up a little early. I just want it around for as long as possible before Christmas decorating starts.

The outfits! This is by far my favorite season to dress for. Mainly because its not too hot outside to wear anything more than a swimsuit.

Music

Prompt:Put your iTunes/music player on shuffle and share the first 10 songs that play.

I honestly don't have much music on my phone because I usually listen to Pandora or Spotify.

Instead of sharing my first 10 songs I am going to share my top 10 Pandora Stations.

It is set on Ben Rector 90% of the time. Most of the songs in our wedding were Ben Rector and Dave Barnes and I love thinking back on that day every time a song comes on.

PSA: You can try Spotify for free for 30 days here. Also, if you are a student you can get Spotify Premium for half the price!

Passion

Prompt: What are you passionate about?

This is a very difficult question for me to answer. I feel like I am passionate about a lot of little things like organization, Aggie football, traditions, and photography. But when I think about the things that really matter to me it was difficult. What do I put a lot of effort into or wish I put more effort and dedication towards.

I love to celebrate things. Anything. If you ask my husband he will laugh because he always makes fun of me for celebrating things like half birthdays or little anniversaries from dating like first date, first kiss, etc. I think everyday should be spent being happy and celebrating something. Parties are always a good idea. We will be celebrating the start of Aggie Football tomorrow!

I believe having a clean, happy home is very important for me and my husband and anyone who enters. We have teenagers at our house all the time and although they are young and don't care, I still think its important that they don't have to stress or get distracted by the mess and can focusing on studying God's word or fellowshipping with each other. I sincerely believe that walking into a clean home that smells nice can be calming and make our home feel welcoming to someone who comes over everyday or even a stranger.

The thing I am most passionate about is the item that is also the hardest for me. I want to be a true example of Christ. I want to be an example that the girls in our youth group should look up to. I want to exhibit the fervent study of God's word, the ability to spread love to anyone in need, and to be someone that is a joy for others to be around. I want to be best wife I can be to my husband and the best mom to my future children. I want to install a legacy of Christ's love through our children for generations, just like it was from our parents. Although I fall short everyday, it is something that it is so important that I try and try again.

What are you passionate about? Is it an easy question to answer or a difficult one?

My Ideal Day

Prompt: Describe your ideal day. Where would you go and what would you do?

My ideal day would no doubt start with breakfast out with my husband. I love love love going out to breakfast.

Afterwards I would go explore some antique shops and get a mani/pedi with my best friends!

Eat a fun, fresh lunch at home with Hutt.

I love to get active somehow but my favorite ways are to play basketball or swim. Or both. I can do either for an extended period of time.

Then I would go home and shower and put on a cute outfit and go out with my husband.  Dinner, exploring a new part of the city, and always finishing the evening with a fun dessert place.
